Antony Gormley says sculpture is like alchemy; it works by changing a lump of clay or stone into something utterly different. To open our series of Cedars Hall Arts Talks celebrating the arrival of Gormley’s new work DOUBT in Wells, the eminent art historian Jo Baring traces a century of sculpture in Britain through artists such as Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. She discusses the importance of British sculpture and how Gormley, a figurative sculptor and one of our most successful and popular artists, fits into this story.
Young Wells musicians will perform in the foyer preceding this talk.
A special CHATS supper will be available after the talk, consisting of Sushi and a glass of wine. This can be purchased through the box office for £10, pre-bookings only.
Tickets: £10 unreserved, 18s and under free (but please book) Buy tickets here
